Perfect Polish recently completed a 5,000 square foot floor rehabilitation project for a Mercedes-Benz dealership in Knoxville, TN, transforming a worn former paint shop into a clean, durable, high-performance workspace with a professional epoxy flake finish.
The project involved extensive surface preparation and rehabilitation work due to years of automotive paint buildup and heavy use within the space. Our team began by grinding the existing concrete surface to remove layers of old paint and contaminants that had accumulated over time. In addition, sections of existing tile were removed to properly prepare the slab for the new coating system.
Once the surface was cleaned and properly prepared, the entire floor was profiled using metal bond tooling to create the ideal surface for coating adhesion.
To help protect the floor from future moisture-related issues, a black moisture-mitigating epoxy base coat was installed across the entire slab. Decorative flake was then applied into the epoxy system, creating a floor designed for both appearance and long-term performance in a demanding automotive environment.
The floor was then finished with a durable topcoat and sealer to provide additional durability, chemical resistance, and long-term wear protection.
Despite the extensive prep and rehabilitation required, the entire project was completed over the course of a weekend and turned back over to the dealership with minimal downtime and zero disruption to business operations.
